Injection Lesson Video for Bravelle with Q-Cap

Hi!  My name is Lisa Stack, and I’m the CNY Fertility Support Coordinator.  Today, Teah is going to instruct us how to inject Bravelle with the QCap.

Teah:  Hi, so today, we’re doing Bravelle injections.  To start, we will need our supplies.  Today, we’re going to do two vials of Bravelle.  We’ll just need one of water.  We’ll have our needle with the syringe, and then we’ll have a smaller needle, a 27-gauge needle and a QCap.  The QCaps come five in a box.   So, we’ll have plenty of those.  To start, we’re going to pop the tops off the powders and your water.  Each powder is 75 IUs.  So, for 75, you’re just going to use one vial for a dose of 75.  Typically, people are on two, so 150 is 2 vials.  Today, we’re just going to be using two vials and one of the water.  To start, we’ll clean off the tops with alcohol.  We’re going to take and use the syringe only, not the needle and the QCap.  The QCap is nice, because it screws right onto your syringe, then you have a tip that will puncture your bottles, so it’s very easy.  You’re going to start with your water, and you’ll pop this right on your water.  You can literally just draw back.  We’ll use just one ml of water to mix our medications.  So, here’s one ml of water.  We’ll just pop off the top and then pop it right onto the powder.  It dissolves right away.  You’re flip it upside down, draw this out, and empty the bottle completely so you have one bottle of mixed medication.   Pop this off, then the last bottle, pop it on, mix it up, draw it out and you’re good to go.  So, right now, I’ve got both mixed medications in this vial.

I’m going to unscrew the QCap, and then I’m going to put on my 27-gauge needle which is the needle used for the injection.  Now, I’m going to make sure this is on nice and tight.  You can also use a 25-gauge needle.  It will depend on what you’ve been ordered.  You can use 27-gauge or 25-gauge, either will work.  So, I have my needle on and now I have air in there.  I’m going to release this air bubble right to the top of the needle.  If you have any little air bubbles you’ll want to just flick them out, they will go right to the top.  Then you’re ready for your injection with a nice, tiny needle.
