FAQ - Getting Started
Our Syracuse, Albany, Buffalo, Sarasota, and Colorado Springs offices perform all retrievals/transfers and other major fertility procedures. To learn more about doing IVF, Tubal Reversals, Donor Egg IVF or other fertility treatments at CNY when you don’t live near one of our retrieval and transfer centers, check out our Traveling for Fertility Treatment page.
You can see a full list of our office locations here: https://www.cnyfertility.com/locations/
That said, more than half of our clients travel to our locations to be a CNY patient due to the high-quality care, pricing at just one-third the cost of the national average, and the payment plans available. Most patients coming from outside the area only need to be near one of our offices for 2 to 7 days. Learn more about our travel for fertility program.
At CNY, we offer lower intervention treatment such as ovulation induction (timed intercourse) and IUI (intrauterine insemination) as well as more advanced treatments like IVF (invitro-fertilization), FET (frozen embryo transfer), Donor Egg IVF, and Egg Freezing and we have a Donor Egg Program. We also offer additional services such as PGT testing (genetic testing of embryos), Sperm Extraction (PESA/TESA/TESE), Tubal Reversals, Vasectomy Reversals, as well as many ancillary services including uterine washes, intralipids, IVIG, and more.

Think of this time as the preparatory period for a pregnancy. Light exercise like walking and yoga, a high-fat, low-carb diet, vitamins, and rest are recommended. It is also best to abstain from alcohol, quit smoking, and not take any harmful substances.
At CNY, your consultation process begins prior to your scheduled appointment with one of our skilled providers. Our consultation nurse navigators will reach out to you in your patient portal two weeks prior to your scheduled appointment to review recommendations to improve your consultation experience. Your nurse navigator will also schedule a nurse and financial team follow-up with you for after your consultation.
At your scheduled provider call, a CNY provider will review any records that have been uploaded or results received as well as your goals and intention for treatment. The provider will review your health history and make treatment recommendations based on this information. Testing may be recommended if not already completed.
Once your consultation has been completed, you will meet with your nurse and financial navigators at your scheduled times. The team will review your treatment plan in more detail, provide you with consents for treatment, and upload any additional testing orders that are needed. Our financial navigators will review your benefits with you, and/or provide you with information on our self-pay pricing and provide the appropriate contracts.
We donate an IVF cycle each and every month. While most months are open to everyone, some months do have themes and/or restrictions. Rules to apply generally change each month and are announced on social media and through our newsletter. The best way to stay informed is to follow us closely on Instagram and Facebook pages.
For more information, check out our general information on grants that may be available to you. Click here if you’d like to fill out an application for CNY’s monthly IVF grant.
No! You do not need a referral to become a client at CNY Fertility.
We recommend that you eat a high-fat, low-carbohydrate diet, also known as the BEBBI (bacon, eggs, butter, beef, ice cream) Diet, appropriately pronounced “baby”! (Click here for Dr. Kiltz’s ice cream recipe.)
Both males and females should cultivate a gentle exercise program that includes walking and light-impact exercise. Yoga for fertility practice is specifically designed to improve blood flow (and thus nutrients) to the reproductive organs. Click here to check out our Fertile Hope Yoga Program.
Your first official step at CNY Fertility is scheduling a consultation. Consultations are completed over the phone. To schedule a consultation, fill out this form on our website. Once your consultation has been scheduled, you will receive an important welcome email with must-have information regarding onboarding, as well as information on accessing the CNY Patient Portal.

In preparing for fertility treatment, we recommend both men and women take a high-quality fertility supplement. We recommend Molecular Fertility supplements which have been designed and approved by our CNY Fertility team. (Click here to learn more about Molecular Fertility supplements.)
Please contact our office at least 2 weeks prior to the start of your menses. It can take a minimum of 2 weeks for you to receive your medications and to be certain all necessary prior authorizations are in place.
Of course, if you have not yet had your new patient consultation, we often book those out months in advance and therefore recommend setting your consultation up as soon as you know you are ready to get started. After your initial consultation, you can begin treatment at the start of your next cycle (if there is enough time to receive all your meds) but you’re also free to wait a few months to get started. If your cycles are irregular, then once you have your meds, you can come in for a baseline and begin your treatment.

Yes! In fact, more than half of our clients come to us for treatment that do not live near a CNY location. We have several types of travelers: the “short driver” who lives 1 to 3 hours from one of our offices, who may opt to complete all monitoring and treatment at a CNY location, the “road tripper” who lives further than 3 hours away, but plans to drive to CNY for treatment (either monitoring at a facility closer to home, or staying near a CNY location for an extended period of time), and our “flyers,” who live more than driving distance from a CNY office and will monitor at a facility closer to home, and fly to our office for procedures only.
No matter which type of traveler you are, you have the choice to monitor closer to where you live or monitor at a CNY location of your choice! Please review our office locations and services offered at each one.

The first question you may have after trying to conceive for any amount of time is: “Why is this happening to me (us)?” Infertility is a tricky condition. There are a variety of emotions associated with it, and the stigma in our culture is that pregnancy should be “easy” and “natural.” These phrases can cause couples to feel inadequate and frustrated with their situation. The truth is that 8 to10% of all women, and 10 to15% of all men are infertile. Infertility is a disease and should be given the same emotional support as other diseases are given and be free of that stigma.
You will likely experience sadness and pain, but we recommend finding comfort in your partner and offering that same comfort to your partner as well. The journey of infertility can be long, with highs and lows. Knowing that it’s you and your partner against the world will help you during this time.
At CNY, we understand the emotional toll that treatment can take on you. We offer several free emotional support options such as support groups, one-on-one support consultations, and monthly support webinars where you can process your feelings and receive support without judgement during your fertility journey.
Infertility is defined as the inability to conceive for 1 year when having unprotected intercourse. For women over 35, infertility is defined as the inability to conceive for 6 months or more. However, there can be many instances where one could be diagnosed with infertility sooner given a known condition or testing.
The day of your retrieval, we will need a sperm sample. If you are using your partner as your sperm source, he will have the option to collect it at the office in one of our collection rooms, or he can collect it at home (or hotel) and bring the specimen to the office.
If he chooses to collect outside of the office, the sperm sample should be kept at body temperature (under shirt or close to body) and must be labeled with name, date, and time of collection. The sample must be at the office within 2 hours of collection.
