Many people hear about CNY, our incredible care and dedication to our clients, and our affordable pricing with payment plans and want to know, “can I travel to CNY for an IUI, IVF, Tubal Reversals or other fertility treatment?”
The simple answer is yes. In fact, over 1/3 of our clients come from outside the State of New York and about 3-5% from outside the country.
Fertility treatment can be a stressful time, and certainly traveling for care can add an extra stressor to your treatment, but most clients find the benefits of traveling to us far outweigh any additional difficulty added by traveling for your treatment. Most of your treatment (all of your monitoring) can be done remotely so you only need to travel to us for you actual fertility procedures (insemination, egg retrieval, embryo transfer, tubal ligation reversal, etc).
In fact, CNY Fertility makes the process as simple and smooth as possible with our dedicated travel team. Our dedicated travel team will guide your remote treatment. Even though your monitoring may be done elsewhere, we will always be in control of your treatment. Our team will instruct you on what testing is needed, answer any of your questions, and guide your every step.
Of course, now you probably want to know why you should travel to CNY Fertility for your fertility care and how to do it.
There are many reasons to come to CNY for your treatment, but it mostly boils down to the incredible care you receive at CNY Fertility for a fraction of the cost of most fertility centers in the country. According to FertilityIQ, the average IVF cycle costs $23,474. Now that is including, $5,000 for genetic testing (which is an additional service and at CNY Fertility costs substantially less – roughly $300/embryo tested) and $5,000 for medications. Subtracting the costs of genetic testing and medications, the average IVF cycle would cost around $13,500. At CNY Fertility, IVF costs only $3,900 while maintaining the highest of industry standards. When factoring in $1,500 for potential travel expenses including plane ticket and accommodation, you are still looking at only $5,400. That’s an $8,000 saving, or an extra cycle and a half, which could make the difference between walking away after a failed cycle or having the chance to do multiple cycles and walk away with a child in arm should your first cycle fail.
Your travel treatment, like most fertility treatments, can be broken down into two main components, monitoring, and the actual fertility procedures. As a travel client, you essentially have two choices of how your treatment will proceed: travel to CNY for the entirety of your treatment cycle including monitoring or travel to only for your actual fertility procedures.
If traveling to CNY for a Tubal Ligation Reversal, the procedure itself is the only component of your treatment. We recommend arriving the day before your procedure and not leaving until the day after your procedure.
Traveling for Your Entire Cycle
If you choose to have all of your monitoring and procedures done at CNY, you will need to be in the area for 2-3 weeks starting just after the onset of your period through your insemination (if doing an IUI) or through your embryo transfer (if doing IVF).
CNY Fertility has partnered with hotels to offer our clients discounted rates allowing you to stay and have transportation to and from our office for less than $100 a night.
Of course, we also recommend checking out airbnb to find even more affordable rates. Don’t forget to ask your host for discounted long-term stay rates!!!
Traveling only for your Procedure
If you choose to only travel to CNY for your procedures all of your monitoring will be done by an outside medical facility like your local OB/GYN, hospital, radiologist, or another medical center capable of performing ultrasounds and running labs same-day results. These same day results must be faxed to us that day.
Monitoring consists of ultrasounds and blood work every 2-4 days to check on your follicular/egg development as well as your response to medications during treatment. Although they will be running the tests, CNY Fertility will be in control of your treatment. In essence, they will be acting as our hands during this part of your treatment.
During this part of your treatment, you will be in contact with a clinical member of the travel team every day to help answer any questions, update your medications, and guide your every step.
We will be sending you important paperwork that must be filled out by your monitoring facility and similarly, you will need to upload reports from your monitoring appointments every day after your ultrasound and blood work visits.
Once your follicles have matured appropriately you will need to prepare yourself for traveling to CNY.
Traveling
Because we follow your natural menstrual cycle and follicular development is slightly different for everyone and depends on their response to medications during treatment, it’s always best to wait at least until you begin your medications to start making travel plans. Once you begin your medications, you can start looking into travel plans.
Traveling for an IUI
Traveling for an IUI procedure is relatively simple and requires only one visit to our office. You will need to be at our office the day of the procedure. If the sperm is being shipped to our office, we must receive the sperm at our office prior to your treatment cycle to avoid any complications. To avoid any consequences due to a travel delay, recommend you arrive the day before your procedure. For an IUI, you are free to travel home the same day as your procedure.
Traveling for IVF with a Fresh Transfer
Similar to an IUI, an IVF with a fresh transfer requires only one visit. However, because the embryo must develop in our embryology lab for a number of days, you will need to remain in the area for 5-7 days. Alternatively, you could travel home and return 5-7 days later.
You will need to be in the area the day before your egg retrieval and can leave the day after your embryo transfer. If you are returning home between your egg retrieval and embryo transfer, you are highly encouraged to be in the area the day before your egg retrieval and embryo transfer and return home the day after said procedure. You may return home the same day as your procedures, however we recommend staying the extra night to avoid any complications and additional stress.
Traveling for IVF with Frozen Embryo Transfer ( FET)
Most travel clients going through IVF treatment choose to do a cycle with a frozen transfer.
For this treatment option, you will need to arrive the day before your egg retrieval and allowed to return home the day after your retrieval. You will then return to our office for your Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET). This can be done any following month. Again, you would need to arrive the day before your FET and could leave the day after your transfer.
