You will have an opportunity to ask questions, or you may submit questions before via email.  Please email for call-in information:  Lstack@cnyfertility.com
Finally, on Thursday, April 23rd Lisa will offer a Relaxation Webinar focusing on Deep Breathing to Release Tension.  This webinar will guide you through a breathing exercise that you can then take and use as a coping tool for challenging situations.  To register please visit the following link:  https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/132135274511320066

Giving Thanks and Enjoying Your Loved Ones

by

fall leavesThis Thursday, we are celebrating Thanksgiving here in the US.  This is a great tradition of expressing gratitude, appreciation, and love.  Even in the face of your fertility journey, spending time with those you love can provide you with happiness and motivation to keep pushing forward on this long journey to parenthood.  Dr. Kiltz suggests spending time with what you want.  He teaches us that this is a way of sending your dreams and desires out to the world around you, while opening yourself up to receive whatever beauty may come your way.  This holiday, try to open yourself up to the love and happiness within your circle of family and friends, and see what happens.
It may feel challenging to celebrate with family, as there are often children running around enjoying the day, but try to remember Dr. Kiltz’s words, and surround yourself with what you desire.  Learn from your family members with children of their own, and imprint the laughter of your younger family members as motivation to have that within your own home next year.  This is a great source of encouragement and motivation for you to access during those moments when you may feel like giving up, or that the journey is too long.
Be kind to yourself this holiday, and take plenty of time to rest.  If you would like more suggestions for having a peaceful and relaxed holiday, please be sure to read the Holiday Support Guide.
For all of our fertility support offerings this month, please check our CNY Fertility and CNY Healing Arts calendars.  Please let us know if you have any questions, and we look forward to hearing from you during these sessions!
One last note, did you know that we started  new Private Facebook Fertility and Pregnancy Groups for current clients?  We also have groups for Secondary Infertility and Pregnancy Loss. Here, you can find a safe and secure space to share with other women and men facing similar challenges.  You can get immediate support and feedback!  If you are interested in joining, please message Lisa Stack within the Patient Portal.

Recognizing National Adoption Month

by

mombabysmileHere at CNY Fertility, we love both creating families and watching them grow.  We have the honor of working with incredible parents patiently waiting and tirelessly pursuing all options to create the family that is meant just for them.  Some of our clients decide to pursue adoption simultaneously along with their fertility treatment.  This selfless commitment has been a joy for us to witness.  We are also happy to be able to support and encourage our clients who make the decision to focus their attention solely on adoption, once they feel like they have reached the end of their journey with us.  Regardless of when or how a client has reached the point to say yes to adoption, we have been honored to witness their journey.
This month, we recognize the importance of adoption and foster to adopt programs.  Through these programs, thousands of children every year are placed in loving and steady homes and finally able to unpack their bags for the last time.  If you are considering adoption and you would like to learn more about the process, we recommend National Adoption Month 2014.  For more information that we have gathered on the adoption process, and a collection of helpful links, we welcome you to browse our Adoption page.
If you would like to connect with other clients who are pursuing adoption, or who have successfully adopted during or after treatment, please contact Lisa:  Lstack@cnyfertility.com  She will be happy to connect you with others who are willing to share their experiences.

DR. ROB KILTZ:  Hi Lisa, how are you?
LISA:  I’m great Dr. Kiltz, how are you doing?
DR. ROB KILTZ:  Spectacular, it’s another wonderful day!
LISA:   Oh, it absolutely is. It’s a great day out and a wonderful day to be taking a look at all of our options here.
DR. ROB KILTZ:   You know it’s interesting, someone said it’s Friday. I looked outside and I couldn’t tell but every day is a good day. What are we going to talk about today?
LISA:   Single embryo transfer. We have a lot of questions about who should maybe look into this option or is it OK to do a single embryo transfer and what are the merits of it?
DR. ROB KILTZ:   Well, single embryo transfer is something we are growing in tremendously. There’s some evidence now that suggests it you put in more than one embryo they may be competing against each other. If the good one implants and the bad one’s kind of starting to implant, it may actually affect the other one. So, I mean, this is somewhat theory but some studies are suggesting this for anecdotal information… certainly I believe for woman under 30, 1 embryo to transfer, 30-35 years of age, 1 or maybe 2 embryos to transfer, and then if you’re older than that, 2 embryos to transfer… that’s the direction we’re moving in.
LISA:  That’s great!
DR. ROB KILTZ:   We’re also looking at offering more and more PGS and PGD, where we biopsy the embryos, identify the normal embryos, and since we’re picking the 1 embryo… we’re more likely to find that 1 embryo. Now since are freezing procedures are doing a lot better, we’re freezing at the blastocyst stage, which is either day 5 or day 6 (sometimes day 7) you can follow them out that way. If you’re not doing PGD or PGS you can still pick that 1 embryo and when you’re thawing that 1, make it 1.
LISA:   That’s great!
DR. ROB KILTZ:   There’s a lot more information that will help to produce multiples and maybe even increase single embryo implantation, obviously a singleton baby.
LISA:   That’s wonderful. I know the idea of, How do you choose? How do you make that decision? is something that weighs heavily on our clients before they have these conversations with our staff but then once they are able to sit down in the office and speak with you or speak with one of our other practitioners… the whole world seems to make a little more sense. We appreciate you taking the time to explain this.
DR. ROB KILTZ:   It is important because it used to be that quite commonly we would implant 4 or 5 embryos, depending on the age and circumstances of the client, but now we are really moving toward doing 1 or 2. We believe that will show some real promise in helping our clients conceive and have babies.
LISA:   Great! Thank you for giving us more information about this and I’m sure you’ll be hearing more from us about other questions we’ll be fielding from clients. And clients if you ever have any questions that you’ll really love for us to address on the clinical side, please don’t hesitate to let us know. We would love to address it, in video format and then of course you can always message us within the Patient Portal and contact us with any questions.
DR. ROB KILTZ:   Always here and thank you, Lisa. God bless!
LISA:   Thank you!
