Holly & Patrick's Story:
My husband and I always talked about starting a family and thought it would happen when the time was right. After 2 years or so of trying naturally with no success, we were referred to a fertility clinic. Many tests and procedures were completed on both of us with the conclusion of unexplained infertility. We had to try a specific clinic first for insurance purposes and attempted 4 IUIs at that clinic without success.
I started looking into other clinics at the end of 2019. My best friend had always raved about CNY so I contacted them for a consult for IVF. I had my consult in March of 2020. I had my egg retrieval in the beginning of November 2020 and my first FET at the end of November 2020. The first transfer was successful and we were over the moon to finally see a positive pregnancy test!
Unfortunately, at 18 weeks we found out that our little babe was forming without a brain(anencephaly) and would not survive. We were devastated!
We did our 2nd FET in May 2021, but my body was still recovering, and that transfer did not work. We took some time off to heal mentally, physically, and emotionally.
We attempted our 3rd FET in September 2021 and found out we were pregnant!! We were very excited but apprehensive. We welcomed our miracle baby girl, Piper, on 5/25/2022. We are so in love and can’t believe she’s really here!

Your website is a wealth of knowledge for patients. I always refer people considering IVF to your website just so they know what it entails. I did a lot of research on acupuncture and completed treatments and yoga/yoga ball exercises. Keto diet to prepare for medications and transfer. Also, I read the book ‘it starts with the egg’ which was awesome
Unique Moments:
We loved the convenience of a CNY clinic opening in buffalo which is closer to home. Our highs were positive pregnancy tests but our lows were definitely losing our baby that was growing perfectly except her brain. Also, not really knowing why we can’t conceive naturally is hard because we don’t know what to change.
Hope, Inspiration and Advice:
A support person is very important! Whether it’s an IVF support group, friend/relative/ spouse. Talking about the journey was very helpful to calm my nerves and hear that I was not all alone. It’s way more common than you realize because no one talks about it. I’d also say, be flexible and try not to put so much pressure on yourself because it is a very trying process. Get help with a counselor if needed. No shame in needing help!
