As the temperature begins to warm and become more consistent, we are nearing the spring planting season. While yard work may not be the most relaxing activity for most, gardening tends to take on an entire new feel. Similar to the ‘Grounding’ exercise I have shared with you from Jasmin Cori’s book, Healing From Trauma, gardening can be a wonderful release.
Spending the time to connect with the earth and plant a flower or vegetable garden is a great way to self soothe. You are able to feel and explore that which constantly supports you, and make your own contribution as well. Imagine the feeling of satisfaction and wonder that comes from watching a flower or vegetable bloom from just one seed. This is also an incredibly symbolic process if you are trying to conceive.
Your garden doesn’t have to be large or extravagant, just a few potted flowers or tomatoes would do. If you don’t have the means to create one yourself, I welcome you to visit our garden at Syracuse CNY Healing Arts, it is incredibly beautiful and relaxing!
