Words of Support and Encouragement: Coping with the Holidays
Posted by: Editor on Dec 17, 2012 in News

Good morning!  I hope that you had a great weekend, and that you are enjoying the holidays.  At our last Circle of Hope support group session, we had a great discussion on how to cope when those around you are conceiving so easily.  The echoing frustration of the evening was that it seemed like everyone around them was conceiving, while they were still unable to.  This is a very real and natural frustration to have, when those around you have what you want.

During the holidays, you may notice this frustration more as you are spending more time with friends and family members.  Remember that it doesn’t make you a bad person for feeling this frustration, it is a very real and ok reaction.  Be sure to take some extra time for yourself and give yourself the space to breathe through it, if the emotions become overwhelming.  You always have the option to say that now is not a good time for you to attend a particular event.  It is ok to protect yourself, if it is just too challenging for you at the time.

Dr. Kiltz and I sat down to discuss these challenges, and he offers a few great coping tips.  Please feel free to take a look at the video here,  Coping with the Challenges of the Holidays

You can also access the Holiday Support Guide, for more ideas to help you along.

Be kind to yourself, and have a great holiday!
