Good morning! We hope that you had a great weekend. This week, we would like you to inventory your supportive community. Who is there when you need them? Who is not playing a positive role in your fertility journey? In Dr. Kiltz’s book, The Fertile Secret, he discusses the importance of a supportive and loving community:
I have a supportive community. I am surrounded by love.
Story telling is a fine art, preserved in culture and passed on from generation to generation. It is a beautiful expression of experiences, both positive and negative. You too, have a story to tell. While you may not find your story interesting or uplifting enough to share with friends and family, it is important to share your moments and connect with the greater community of those trying to conceive.
Stepping out beyond your comfort zone may sound like the opposite of what you need in this moment, but the action truly can be cathartic. Imagine summoning up the courage to share your story, and finding that there are others right in your community who are facing the same silent challenges alongside you. Imagine all of the potential for a loving, caring, and supportive environment! p. 41
In addition to this great discussion on the potential that comes with sharing your story, Dr. Kiltz also shares a quick activity for you to complete to recognize where you can turn for support:
Finding Your Fertile Friendship
Who, in your family, is supportive?
Out of all of your friends, who is the most supportive of your journey?
At work, who can you turn to if needed?
Do you know of a local fertility-based support group?
Do you know of a local Yoga for Fertility class?
Have you found a webinar that suits your needs?
Do you know of an online discussion forum or message board that feels supportive and loving?
