Hannah & Juan's Story:

After having two daughters by the time I was 21 years old my husband and I thought we were 100% done having kids so I had a tubal ligation in 2019.

A whole year later, I quickly realized that I had the desire to have one more child, so I thought about having a tubal ligation reversal surgery, then continuing to try to grow our family.

As I gathered my medical records, I found out that I actually had a bilateral salpingectomy, which meant that the doctor had completely removed my fallopian tubes, rather than just tying them, so our only option was IVF.

I was devastated, but knew if I couldn’t have another child, I was ultimately okay with that, as I already had 2 kids.

That same year I decided to pause my own fertility journey and apply to be a surrogate to help grow someone else’s family that desperately wanted a child as much as I did and I figured it could help me as well by saving up for my own ivf journey.

I delivered twins in 2022 for a very deserving family, and I absolutely loved being able to help another family, so I applied to do it again in 2023. Unfortunately, that surrogacy journey ended in a stillbirth in 2024, and it left me feeling super depressed and hopeless. I felt like I wouldn’t be able to carry anymore kids, even for myself, after that, but I gave my body a bit of time to heal and then started the IVF process with CNY.

In March of 2025, I had a double embryo transfer, which resulted in my beautiful twin boys!!

That pregnancy was filled with so much anxiety and a lot of scares (one of my embryos split and I was going to have triplets, but we lost one), we still couldn’t be more grateful every day for our two baby boys making us parents to 4 kids and we couldn’t have done it without the help of all the staff at CNY!!

Helpful resources Hannah & Juan found:

Journaling/getting into a normal exercise routine, and researching as much as possible.

The Moment:

The moment I found out I was pregnant was actually pretty insane. My husband and I decided to take a home pregnancy test exactly 1 day after our embryo transfer just to “see” if we could see anything and we both couldn’t wait.

We got the faintest second line and didn’t fully believe it! As the days went on the lines kept getting darker and by day 4 the digital test said pregnant! Turns out I was pregnant with triplets but unfortunately lost the third one at 6 weeks along. We were still blessed with twins and were able to have a healthy pregnancy and birth.

Hope, Inspiration and Advice:

Don’t give up hope. All the hard work (time, money, energy, pain) will hopefully all pay off & every cycle is different and so is every new pregnancy.
