Alissa & Justin's Story:

I always thought it would be easy to get pregnant once we started trying after we got married, nope not for us! We had been trying (using ovulation test strips) for about 2 years with no success. I actually decided to seek medical help once my sister was diagnosed with PCOS. I went to a local Ob-Gyn who put me on clomid without running any kind of test, besides a blood test to check for ovulation each month. After a few months of just not liking my treatment course and not having more answers, I decided to turn to CNY, where it was confirmed I also had PCOS. Luckily, my husband is in the Army and we happened to be stationed about an hour and a half from the Syracuse office, it was so exciting for us to have access to possible answers and treatments so close!

I wanted to try to stay as 'natural' as possible while TTC and IVF was not in my sights (haha, joke was on me)! We tried a few months of Letrozole with timed intercourse and then moved on to IUI. We did 2 months of IUI with no success. The plan was to try 3-4 months of IUI but my husband received orders to move to Alabama. So, it was now or never for us and the decision to move on to IVF was super easy! I knew we were in trusted hands with the nurses, by this point they felt like close friends helping to guide us along.

We had a smooth egg retrieval, fertilizing 11 out of 12 eggs and a successful 5 day embryo transfer of one rockstar embryo who is now a 3 1/2 month old healthy, beautiful, perfect little girl kicking wildly next to me as I type!

I am so happy we chose to do IVF and would do it 1,000x over again! If necessary for future children, we will be travel patients doing the prep locally and then traveling to Syracuse for the transfer but I know we will be in excellent hands along the way once again. Thank you CNY!

Favorite Team Member at CNY:

We loved Michelle and Grace so so much! During my Ivf cycle I requested to have those two each time, mostly for consistency but also for the comfort. They are both so kind and caring, it was so weird not seeing them multiple times a week once we left! In addition, Dr. Corley was amazing, such a kind and gentle person. Hopefully we'll have him for future transfers!

Helpful resources Alissa & Justin found:

I found it helpful to join the CNY TTC Facebook page.

Unique Moments:

I felt very confident in the nurses the whole process and especially liked how I had a choice and say in how I wanted to proceed each month.

Hope, Inspiration and Advice:

Seek fertility specialists, don't waste your time with your regular obgyn.

Follow the guidance of CNY nurses and Drs, they are amazing at what they do.

Eat right and do anything that helps you relax!
