Kathleen Yao, DNP

Kathleen Yao, DNP, WHNP-BC, is a board-certified Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner on the Global Telehealth Team at CNY Fertility, where she specializes in performing new patient consultations and providing individualized, patient-centered care to individuals and couples worldwide. She joined CNY in 2025, bringing with her more than a decade of advanced clinical experience in reproductive health and women’s wellness.

Kathleen earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2005 and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2006 from Creighton University. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing in 2010, becoming a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner, and later completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice in 2017 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. She further advanced her expertise in reproductive medicine by completing the ASRM Nurse Certificate in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility in 2019. From 2013 to 2024, Kathleen also served as a clinical preceptor for NP students at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, mentoring the next generation of women’s health providers.

At CNY Fertility, Kathleen’s role centers on conducting new patient consultations, where she reviews medical and reproductive histories, provides counseling on fertility evaluation assessments, evaluates potential risk factors and medical conditions that may contribute to infertility or recurrent pregnancy loss, and recommends personalized treatment plans. She also educates patients on lifestyle modifications such as nutrition, exercise, and stress-reduction strategies to help optimize fertility outcomes.

Kathleen was inspired to pursue nursing by her mother, an oncology nurse whose compassion and dedication encouraged her to keep learning and growing within the field. Her passion for fertility medicine is also personal—having seen loved ones overcome infertility with the help of reproductive medicine, she treats every patient as though they were a family member or friend.

She loves working at CNY Fertility because of the supportive, mission-driven team dedicated to helping patients achieve their dreams of building a family.

Outside of work, Kathleen enjoys drawing, playing piano, recreational dancing, and supporting her children in activities like soccer and marching band. On her bucket list is taking her children to the birthplaces of their grandparents and great-grandparents so they can connect with their family’s history.

To patients facing infertility, she offers this heartfelt encouragement: “You are not alone in your journey. My hope is to provide you with guidance and support every step of the way.”
