Think of this time as the preparatory period for a pregnancy. Light exercise like walking/yoga, a high-fat low-carb diet, vitamins, and rest are recommended. It is best to abstain from alcohol, quit smoking, and not take any harmful substances.
Yes, you will need someone to accompany you to your procedure, be available to receive your post-procedure instructions, and see to it that you arrive back home or to your hotel safely.
Because the use of many over the counter medications has not been studied with fertility treatments, we recommend you take Extra Strength Tylenol, per the package instructions, for pain. If you experience any pain that is not controlled, you will want to alert our office immediately and/or be seen locally in an urgent care or ER.

A fresh semen sample is ideal, where possible, for your treatment cycle. Prior to the date of collection (either your egg retrieval, IUI, or egg thaw,) your partner should abstain for 2 to 5 days.
