Jessica & Austin's Story:

When my husband and I started trying for a baby, it was just a well, if it happens, it happens thing. I didn’t want to take birth control anymore because it put me at a higher risk of blood clots, since I was diagnosed with factor V Leiden.

We started with no stress, after a year of unprotected intercourse and no pregnancy, I began to worry. I went to my normal gyn office and let them know, and they decided we could do some timed intercourse cycles with medication to help induce ovulation.

After 8 back-to-back cycles with no pregnancy, I really began to worry. I reached out to a more local clinic 2 hours away to begin IUI treatments. Again, big follicles grew and ovulated, still nothing. There was No answer or reason; everything was normal for me and for him.

We were diagnosed with unexplained infertility and told we were sorry that sometimes that’s the worst diagnosis because, really, they don’t know what to fix.

We were young, healthy, and should have been getting pregnant. I researched a lot and found some women on TikTok and Facebook who went through CNY.

At this point, we were 3 years into TTC and 7- 8k gone in IUI. I knew in my heart we were going to need to do IVF.

My insurance paid nothing for treatment. We saved up every penny from holidays, birthdays, and anniversaries that passed, and we skipped out to save for our baby.

We then waited for our consultation. I was so excited! We went to the CNY Colorado Springs location, which was a 10-hour trip for us from Missouri. 47 eggs retrieved, one unsuccessful frozen transfer, and we decided to transfer 2 frozen embryos that were untested day 5 blasts, and our sweet boy is one of them!

Favorite Team Member at CNY:

Dr. Fink was amazing, I watched his Finks and friends religiously every Tuesday and learned so much!

Helpful resources Jessica & Austin found:

TikTok and all the social media CNY does from providers doing questions on there socials, to the silly videos they make!

The Moment:

The moment I first found out was unreal and life changing. I still remember the chills and tears. I had tested 4 days past transfer and that morning was negative. I went and got my midway labs drawn and I remember calling my husband crying. I felt like this wasn’t going to stick either. Devastated, I went to work. Later that afternoon I was cramping all morning and that wasn’t my normal. I took another test at 1:00 pm on Wednesday. I walked away, and when I came back in the bathroom, to my surprise the test was positive--a faint line! That was the first time I’ve ever laid eyes on a positive test. I grabbed 3 more tests and took them. They were all positive, and I couldn’t believe it.
