Video: Infertility Support and the Holiday Season

Hi!  My name is Lisa Stack, and I’m the CNY Fertility Support Coordinator.  I wanted to upload a quick video, in addition to my Words of Support and Encouragement article this week, talking about the holidays.{{vspace8}}
Now, the holiday season is coming up and it’s a very busy time.  Often times, our clients will come back and say that they feel very emotionally challenged during at this time.  They’re surrounded by lots of friends and family members who have children or a lot of pregnancies; and that can bring up a lot of emotions ranging from sadness and anger, to grief, to resentment and guilt.  All these emotions are normal, and they’re OK to experience.  You will have some challenging times.  There are also a lot of things to celebrate during the holidays, and a lot of ways for you to create new traditions and to celebrate the child that you’re hoping to conceive.{{vspace8}}
So, today I would like you to take a few minutes and take an inventory of how you’re feeling about this upcoming season.  Are you feeling anxious?  Are you feeling excited about the holidays?  Do you feel any sort of regret or stress with them coming?  Also, take a look and see how you typically celebrate.  Are those holiday celebrations going to work with how you’re feeling right now?  Do you have the ability to maybe shift your celebrations to maybe something that is a little bit more appropriate to how you’re feeling.  Also, make sure you have someone that you can speak about this with, such as your partner, your mom, sister, or friend.  We’re going to address the holiday season in the upcoming weeks with our Words of Support and Encouragement articles talking about different ways to cope with them, various challenges that you may face and how you can deal with those.  Also, a few ways to create some fun traditions that you can celebrate in hopes of conceiving your child within the next year.{{vspace8}}
So if you have any questions or any topics that you’d like me to hit on, please let me know.  Always send me an email or give me a call and I’d love to touch on them.  I will talk to you next week.{{vspace8}}
