Hi! I’m Lisa Stack your CNY Fertility Support Coordinator. This month at CNY Fertility & Healing Arts, we are going to be focusing on yoga for fertility. Now, yoga can sometimes appear to be challenging or intimidating to some of our patients. I think the general conception is that yoga is for people in spandex, throwing their legs over their heads, and doing mantras. That is not really the case. Actually, in our programs, we are really focusing on the breath. We are trying to get rid of that idea that yoga is for the extremely flexible and those that can bend in all sorts of positions and really get to the focus that yoga is about controlling the breath and utilizing the breath, and to calm the mind, the body, and the spirit. Yoga has so many benefits. There are multiple ways to use it throughout your cycle, pregnancy, and then in general life as well—you can use it at any stage. We encourage you to check out our Yoga for Fertility programs at all three of our CNY Healing Arts Centers, as well as any of our other yoga classes if you can’t make it to Yoga for Fertility. You can still get the same benefits from any of those classes.
Also, at our webinar on Monday, we’re going to be visiting with Cynthia Powers-Broccoli, one of our yoga instructors at the CNY Healing Arts Center in the Syracuse office. She is a wonderful resource. She loves yoga, loves our patients, and loves working with those trying to conceive and those in early pregnancy. She’s just going to show us a few really easy, simple poses that she likes to use for Yoga for Fertility. She’s going to show you how accessible they are; that anyone can do them, that they are not intimidating, they’re not too challenging. You can get all those great benefits of the breath, aligning the body, aligning your posture, and aligning your mind as well. Make sure you tune in for that.
Also, I want to add at our webinar we are going to be discussing our Book of the Month, very aligned with this month’s theme; we are going to be doing Heal Your Body by Louise Hay. Louise Hay has developed great mantras for each kind of ailment for each kind of condition that could arise in your body. Those can be used in addition to yoga. Take a look at that book. You can get it at our web store, you can get it in the CNY Healing Arts or CNY Fertility Centers; and it is a great addition to your yoga practice. Adding in some mantra and some positive thinking to help bring you to where you’d like to be.
