Our miracle baby!

My husband and I got married in 1999. We had so many dreams and goals. Having kids was one of them! Years went by, we tried to get pregnant naturally, but it never happened. Making the long story short, we both had fertility issues. My husband had a thyroid problem that caused his hormonal system to be unbalanced. I had endometriosis and didn't know it. I had surgery in 2006, but we didn't get pregnant. We tried 4 cycles of IUI, unsuccessfully. We saved enough money for IVF and made an appointment with Dr. Kiltz; our health insurance didn't cover fertility treatments. In May of 2011 we tried our first IVF cycle, but it didn't work. I was heartbroken. I needed a breather from all the meds, appointments and distracted my mind from it all. We wanted to try again, so on March of 2012 we went for it. The ultrasound showed that I had two fibroids in my uterus. Instead of going through with the treatment, we (the staff and us) decided to make an appointment for surgery and have those fibroids removed. Dr. Kiltz wanted to make sure that the next IVF cycle would work and I needed a healthy uterus. I had surgery on May 2012. The myomectomy was a success! I waited a few months and went for my second IVF cycle. We were able to get 14 eggs, 12 fertilized, we had two five-days blasts transferred and four frosties. For the first time in my life, after eleven years of tears, challenges and sacrifices, I was pregnant. What a joy!!! My pregnancy was perfect, no complications. I enjoyed every single day of my pregnancy. My miracle baby was on the way! On April 30th, 2013, at 2:07 pm, Abiel Jesse Martinez was born. 8 pounds and 21 inches long. We are blessed beyond words and forever grateful to Dr. Kiltz and his staff for helping us have the family we always wanted. Never give up. Keep the faith and hope!
