If you’re like many people who have completed their family after a successful IVF treatment and have remaining embryos, it’s likely you’re not quite sure what to do with those remaining frozen embryos. Embryo donation, or gifting your remaining embryos to a CNY Family in need may be the solution for you. Although there are many options available concerning your remaining embryos including donating them to science and discarding the embryos, we at CNY believe none is more powerful than embryo donation.
It’s rarely a family’s original plan to utilize donor embryos, but when necessary, it is a beautiful solution that allows a mother to form the intimate bond with their developing child through pregnancy. By donating your embryos, you are helping a family in need by giving the gift of life.
Embryo donation is typically done to help a family who is interested in adoption, but would also like to carry the child and establish a special bond over the nine-month gestational period.
It is certainly not an easy decision to make, but we hope you consider it. If you’re not convinced yet, make sure to read the story of the Embryos that Could below.
At CNY we understand that people have their own reasons for and hesitations against donation. Some individuals would like to get to know the individual or couple they are donating to, potentially even forming friendships that their children may share. Others, however, would like to remain anonymous, giving the gift of life to a “stranger,” and not having any personal information exchanged between parties.
That’s why at CNY we have two separate programs that allow both of these donor types a means to donate.
- Our standard donor embryo program facilitated by our donor team uses anonymous donations keeping the identity of the donors secret while still screening the embryo donors for genetic disorders and collecting valuable demographic information to help recipients select the appropriate embryo.
- For those looking to form a relationship between their donor or recipient, we host a private Facebook group that allows you to get to know potential donors and recipients.
Unlike egg donation which is a compensated program, our embryo donation program is truly a donation. We do not offer any financial compensation to those donating their remaining embryos, but we do hope, and in fact believe, that this makes the gift of life all that more special.
