Our Road to Parenthood

My husband and I had tried for almost three years on our own before my doctor referred me to CNY Fertility Center. This was after we went through three cycles of IUI’s at his office while I was on Clomid. After the doctor at CNY Fertility reviewed our files from those IUI cycles, it was determined that my husband had a very low sperm count. Due to insurance coverage, we could only opt for the IUI cycles and knew the chances were low with his current count. The doctor at the clinic referred him to a great urologist, Dr. J Trussell of Upstate University Medical Center. Dr. Trussell gave us hope; he recommended Clomid and Motility Support from Theralogix to increase his count. He advised it would take about three months for the drugs to get in his system so we would see the increase. We continued with IUI treatments, with me on injectables, and after my husband had been on the drugs for about three months and his numbers had increased significantly, we had our first positive blood test. Unfortunately, that turned out to be a chemical pregnancy. While I was heartbroken, I now knew it was possible for us to become pregnant. We took a month off and in April did another IUI cycle. We had another positive blood test and this time it developed into a healthy, full term pregnancy. Our son was born January 12, 2013! I would like to thank everyone at CNY Fertility Center for their encouragement and dedication. There were many times that I was unsure if it would ever happen for us and they assured me each time that we would become parents. We feel so lucky to have such an incredible resource so close to home that helped us finally become parents. ~~ TLP
