Here are just some of the many benefits of staying hydrated during the fertility process: cushions and lubricates all tissues and organs in the body, facilitates the delivery of hormones throughout the body, and may be helpful with enhancing follicles. Water also helps to provide better production of cervical mucus. Cervical mucus helps the sperm to reach the egg.
A lack of hydration can cause sluggishness, fatigue, and inability to focus. Even slight dehydration can cause our mood to fluctuate. Since the mind-body connection is so important in fertility, staying positive and keeping our bodies running at optimal level can really have an impact.
Another excellent benefit to drinking water is detoxification. Drinking water helps to flush out built-up wastes due to pollutants in the air, medications, etc. For extra detoxing, try adding a slice of fresh lemon in a glass of water every morning to start your day! This will knock off one glass of water and help get your system moving with a Vitamin C boost!
