When we had to reset our clocks on November 6 to “fall behind,” darkness fell at 4:30 pm instead of 5:30 pm. It seemed natural to want to put on the pj’s right after getting home from work.
The winter season for New Englanders is really the time that Mother Earth goes into a resting period on our side of the planet. A much needed re-energizing is in order to get ready for growth in the spring.
So, are you feeling the natural cycle of this resting period? Are you sleeping and cocooning like Mother Earth?
Embracing winter allows your mind, body and soul to connect with the divine flow of life and slows down the pace so it can create anew with the promise of spring.
You might be saying, yah lady, that is all well and good, but there are gifts to purchase, family and friends to visit and all the other life demands that are so pressing during this holiday packed season. But, what if we were to acknowledge that these self-imposed activities aren’t as urgent as we think they are?
December is the month that Mother Earth rests. We already have celebrated Halloween and Thanksgiving. Let Christmas, Hanukkah and New Year call us forward, forward to 2012 with its promise of spring.
Focusing on the promise of spring creates a sense of celebration and hopefulness.
Here’s some homework for December 2011. What can you promise yourself to do to shift from fighting against “infertility” and embracing the fertility cycle with ease? One sure way of opening and blossoming is to greet each and every emotion like a friend. Don’t push it away, forcing it underground, ignoring or stifling it. Rather, listen to it, feel it, live it! Repressed feeling will explode inside! Find a way to let the feelings be heard: journal, say the feeling and sit with the sensation.
You began fertility treatment because you wanted a family, to bring a child into your lives. In doing so, your world has been turned upside down. This life circumstance has transformed, twisted and changed you. So who are you and what is important to you?
Phew. This is not what you bargained for, is it? It is not the dream you had intended. But here you stand. You have proven yourself to be strong, filled with courage and determined. You have shown others what you can tolerate and what you won’t. You have made commitments to yourself and others and followed through, even on the darkest of days, the dark days of winter you might call them. Now, claim your spring. Set your mind to it and go forward with confidence. You are whole, magnificent, full of light and blessed with the power of fertility.
Have a blessed holiday season! Celebrate all that you have done and are willing to do. God Bless.
