EGG DONATION - DONOR INFORMATION
Participating in our egg donation program can be a very gratifying and interesting experience. Egg donation offers hope to infertile couples and single women who would otherwise have little or no chance of achieving a pregnancy. Your contribution is genuinely a "gift of life." Pregnancy Initiation with Donated Eggs (PRIDE) is a complex procedure involving many different procedures. There are three main steps to donating eggs:

  • Applicant Screening
  • Treatment Cycle
  • Compensation for your time

The Donor's knowledge about what to expect at each step will make the process more manageable and less stressful.

SCREENING
The Donor screening process begins with the Donor questionnaire and an interview with Dr. Kiltz. Issues such as motivations and attitudes may be discussed. The written questionnaire deals with such issues as the donor's physical, psychological and personal characteristics, medical history, family history, reproductive health and sexual history. In addition, there is a complete physical examination including blood testing. This extensive battery of tests is designed to both assure that you are suitable for our program and that your participation would not be harmful to you or your health.

TREATMENT CYCLE
The Treatment Cycle for an egg donor is exactly the same as the first two phases of an IVF treatment: Controlled Ovarian Hyperstimulation and Egg Retrieval. The single most important factor in improving the early success rate of IVF has been the ability to transfer more than one embryo. To accomplish this, we stimulate the ovaries with medications that cause the development of multiple follicles. Careful monitoring determines the time of egg retrieval. Go to the IVF pages for a complete description of this process. The only difference between an IVF patient and an egg donor is that the fertilized embryos are not transferred back into the donor, but into the recipient.

COMPENSATION
Once the donor eggs are retrieved, the donor's work is done and they receive their financial compensation of $4000. While the egg retrieval procedure marks the end of the donor's active commitment to the program, we ask that the donor stay in touch with our office for the rare occasion that we need to contact them. The donor's participation in this program is a generous gesture that is greatly appreciated. For an information package, including the Donor Questionnaire, please contact our office.
